The Laboratory for Ancient Food Processing Technologies (LAFPT), the Zinman Institute of Archaeology, University of Haifa, focuses on studying archaeological finds and residues, with special attention given to tools involved in food processing. We regularly conduct technological and morphometric analyses and document artifacts. Focusing on identifying tools’ function and use, we perform archaeobotanical residues (phytoliths and starch grains) and micro- and macro-wear and experimental studies to enable the reconstruction of tools’ life histories and their general and specific functions.
