Tel Beth Shemesh is one of the well-known biblical sites, and it is situated on a low hill on the border between the Shephelah plain and the Judean Hills. Recent excavations of the eastern part of the site were conducted during 2018–2020 by the Israeli Institute of Archaeology (license no. B-464/2018) on behalf of Tel Aviv University and the Israel Antiquities Authority. The project yielded abundant remains dating from the Late Bronze Age to the Ottoman period.
