Tel Bareqet is situated at the northwestern end of the Shephelah Plain. It consists of an upper tell in the west and a lower terrace to the east of it. The first occupation of the site is dated to the Pre-pottery Neolithic, and the main settlement is dated to the Early Bronze Age II. The site is a fortified settlement that was abandoned at the end of the period.
