The Modi’in site cluster is located at the foothills of the Judean Highland. The excavations conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority resulted in a complex picture of site occupation. The main phases of settlement in the area date back to the Late Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age I periods, which makes Modi’in one of the few sites in the southern Levant that attest to the Late Chalcolithic/EB transition.
