The site of Ahihud was excavated between 2012 and 2013 in advance of the diversion of Route 85 to allow for construction of the new railway station. Remains from the PPNB and Wadi Rabah (early Chalcolithic) periods were recovered. Among the assemblage were 171 ground stone tools from the PPNB period and 298 from the Wadi Rabah period that were studied at LAFPT.
